Projects
Habitat
Reforested approximately 50 acres of virgin land and
planted trees within 80 acres of existing forest using
approximately 11,000 trees between the two.
Bur Oak has planted approximately 2000 acres of habitat
including food plots, cover, nesting areas, erosion
prevention and filter strips.
Youth
We Have harvested 18 deer and
many small game during youth
hunts while introducing over 20
youth to the outdoors.
Have taken over 50 youth , often
with their parents, on fishing
outings at Bur Oak Lake.
Have educated youth in preparing
their game  after the hunt for
freezing.
Have educated youth with
preservation of hides after trapping

We Have been involved in the
construction of 5 wetlands and 4
ponds with more wetlands currently
in the design process.
Edge feathered approximately 10
miles of existing fence rows.
Currently we have been consulting
with many landowners in our area
concerning mid-season contract
management of the native prairie
grass areas.
We Consult with and have helped
landowners with woodlot

Charitable Donations
Have netted over 1000 fish in ponds that are about to be drained and donated them
to the chain of public fishing lakes located in Piqua, Ohio
Sponsored Miami County PF during the annual banquets.
Donated 2 deer decoys, a turkey decoy, and an ATV to aid in the apprehension and
prosecution of poachers in our area.

Education
We’re constantly consulting with and educating landowners, farmers, children, and
the general public on wildlife, habitat, hunting, etc
Our Staff has gone on several trips to advance their knowledge concerning wildlife
and habitat.  Some of these trips have included the National PF banquet, several
state PF banquets, as well as a recent trip to Alabama to a working educational golf
course to give them recommendations on their native areas

The Future
We're currently working to
procure the equipment to
transport disabled veterans
and other disabled people to
handicap accessible hunting
blinds to allow them the
opportunity to hunt and enjoy
the outdoors.
Would like to expand youth
hunting opportunities…the
benefits have been proven in
multiple studies concerning
the outdoors and youth.
Continue to pursue working with golf courses during the construction and
maintenance of native areas—these areas not only benefit wildlife; but, they also are
seen by the public and offer a unique educational aspect.
Prairies become “burned out” within 5 years if maintenance is not completed (burn,
disk, inter seeding, tree removal, etc). Bur Oak recognizes that most of the prairies
in our region are in need of such maintenance and we're constantly working to
provide it.
We see a need to create brochures and other resources educating landowners and
farmers concerning the planting and maintenance of prairies
