Bur Oak Land Management, Inc. was created at the direction, and
initially funded with a gift from the late, Mary E. Patterson. The
Purpose of the corporation is to re-establish or create and preserve
wildlife habitat for the study, enjoyment and to the benefit of the
public at large.

Wild lands across the country are disappearing at an alarming rate
and with them are vanishing the flora and fauna that inhabit such
lands. It is the mission of Bur Oak Land Management to recreate,
preserve and encourage the preservation of such lands and wildlife.

Bur Oak Land Management actively manages lands and waters
under its ownership and control to encourage habitation of a healthy
population of various species both plant and animal indigenous to
the area.  Another goal is the re-establishment and preservation and
stocking of wetlands, woodlands, meadow lands, watercourses and
land locked bodies of water with plants and animals that will
establish a healthy ecosystem. This may be accomplished by
purchasing or leasing lands to set aside and maintain, or to modify
to create woodlands, meadow lands, wetlands and ponds or lakes.

These active management projects may be as large as purchasing
tracts of farmlands to revert to a wild state or as small as managing
farmer's fence rows to encourage quail habitat.

Of a more passive nature, Bur Oak Land Management, Inc. will
make lands under its management available to educational
institutions, from elementary schools through post-graduate
programs for the study of flora, fauna and the ecosystems in which
they reside and make scholarships and fellowships available to
students embarking upon courses of study in harmony with the
goals of the corporation. Bur Oak Land Management will also make
grants available to institutions, organizations or even individuals
who propose projects that would further the corporation's goals.

Additionally, Bur Oak Land Management, Inc. will provide
education and information in its areas of interest by sponsoring
and/or providing speakers and programs to various groups and
organizations.
